Lower Blepharoplasty
Refinement and Rejuvenation of the Under-Eye Area
Lower Blepharoplasty is designed to address puffiness, under-eye bags, hollowness, and aging changes beneath the eyes to restore a smoother, more rested appearance.
With time, changes in facial structure, aging, and genetics can cause fat beneath the eyes to become more prominent, creating puffiness, shadowing, and an overall tired appearance.
At You Are Beautiful, lower eyelid surgery is approached with precision and restraint to create natural-looking rejuvenation while preserving the integrity and balance of the lower eyelid.
A Personalized Surgical Approach
Every patient’s anatomy and aging pattern are unique.
During your consultation, Dr. Jae Kim evaluates:
- Lower eyelid anatomy
- Fat distribution and puffiness
- Skin quality and elasticity
- Under-eye hollowness
- Eyelid support and position
- Overall facial balance
This allows for a customized surgical plan designed to create smoother, more balanced, and natural-looking results.
Lower blepharoplasty is often performed in conjunction with facial fat grafting to the lower eyelid and midface to help restore volume, soften hollowness, and create a smoother transition beneath the eyes.
To further improve fine lines, wrinkles, texture, and crepey skin beneath the eyes, the procedure also includes a CO₂ laser resurfacing treatment for comprehensive under-eye rejuvenation.
What Lower Blepharoplasty Can Address
- Under-eye bags and puffiness
- Hollowing beneath the eyes
- Tired or aged appearance

Surgical Technique
Lower blepharoplasty typically involves repositioning—and in some cases conservatively removing—small amounts of fat that have become more prominent due to aging and genetic factors.
Depending on your anatomy and surgical goals, the procedure may be performed using:
● Transconjunctival Lower Blepharoplasty
An incisionless internal approach used when no additional skin removal or structural support is required.
● External Lower Blepharoplasty
A small incision placed just beneath the lower lashes when skin removal or additional support procedures are needed.
The surgical approach is determined based on your anatomy, skin quality, and long-term goals.
A Natural Approach to Results
The goal of lower eyelid surgery is not to create a tight or hollow appearance—but to restore smoothness, balance, and a naturally refreshed look.
Every surgical plan is designed to:
- Preserve lower eyelid support
- Maintain natural facial expression
- Avoid overcorrection
- Support long-term facial harmony
The Recovery Process
Most patients experience:
- Swelling
- Bruising
- Temporary tightness
during the initial healing period.
While healing varies by patient, most patients require approximately 10–14 days of downtime before feeling socially presentable.
Swelling continues to improve gradually over the following weeks as the under-eye area softens and refines.
The Consultation Process
Your consultation includes a detailed facial and lower eyelid evaluation, discussion of anatomy and goals, and a personalized surgical recommendation based on your facial structure and desired outcome.
